CRITERIA FOR AWARDS OF VICE PRESIDENT & LIFE MEMBERSHIP
These awards exist to recognise the valuable contribution of individuals to the current and future existence of the Club. In particular, the two awards described below are intended to recognise a wide range of contribution – i.e. more than simply being a long-term member of ORUFC
VICE-PRESIDENT AWARD
This Award is intended to recognise those individuals who have contributed in terms of their service to the Club and have extended their commitment to include an off-field role, an on-field role or both.
The recommended length of minimum service for this Award is ten years. The Committee have the authority to debate and vote upon the merits of nominations who may – or may not – have achieved this minimum ten year recommendation.
LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARD
Life Membership is the highest Award available to recognise the exceptional
contribution of individuals to ORUFC. It is therefore only to be awarded in exceptional circumstances.
General Criteria
In considering the award of Life Membership an individual should have demonstrated significant, sustained and high quality service enhancing the reputation and/or future of ORUFC. Life membership may be conferred at the Annual General Meeting of the Club upon any person who has been an active member of ORUFC, or rendered service to the Club, for at least fifteen years and who has, in the opinion of two-thirds of the active or life members present at the Annual General Meeting, rendered distinguished service to ORUFC. Past Presidents shall, upon leaving their post, and providing they have the necessary length of service, be automatically created life members of the Club.
Other points to be taken into account when considering any nomination should include:
ï‚•ï€ the general attitude and overall demeanour of the nominee to ensure that the
attitude is one that reflects a dedication to the values of the Club
ï‚•ï€ commitment to the principles of good sportsmanship
ï‚•ï€ valued leadership and good role modelling that reflects credit upon the Club
These points apply in whatever role the nominee has participated in during their service to the Club.
Length of Service
The minimum recommended length of service to the Club is 15 years in either or both an On Field or Off Field role. There must also be active service on the Management Committee of the Club. For these latter two criteria, the Committee have the authority to debate and vote upon the merits of nominations who may – or may not – have achieved this minimum fifteen year recommendation, and who may – or may not have – served on any Management Committee.
Prior Awards
The nominee must have been awarded the Vice President Award prior to being nominated for the life Membership Award

Benefits of Awards
In addition to the status of membership of a select group within the Club, these Awards will be recognised by:
ï‚•ï€ Award of the Life Membership at the AGM
