After a flat game against Widnes last week kirk were looking forward to this weeks visit by Carrington who they had beaten home and away last season. This season however has seen Carrington merge wih Ashton on Mersey thirds to address their problems of lack of numbers last season. It turned out that Ormskirk had nothing to worry about, winning the game in convincing style and providing plenty of entertainment for the crowd that had gathered to watch the only home game this week.

Tries came from both the backs and forwards and resulted from some great build up play by the ever strong third team pack who were much better at getting to the breakdown this week. After going in at half time 28 points up Ormskirk kept their foot on the gas in a shortened second half and managed to run in another 43 points. Newcomer this season Mark Essex scored five trys and duly bought a jug of lager after the game. The other tries came from Bruce Thomson (2), Matthew Waterhouse, Dave Hesketh, Mike Newton and captain Ian Critchley who miraculously also kicked 8 out 11 conversions.
