Manchester Tournament - U12s

The under 12s had a mixed tournament over in Manchester at the weekend. They put on their best display against a strong Widnes team in their first match. Even though losing by two tries to nil the much smaller Ormskirk pack dominated the match, constantly driving the much bigger Widnes forwards backwards. In addition Ormskirk appeared to have got themselves back in the game going over for a try only for the referee to adjudge the ball had not been grounded correctly when over the line.

In the next two matches it appeared that the efforts of the first match had taken its toll with two lethargic performances against Waterloo(losing by 3 tries to nil) and Sheffield(losing by 5 tries to nil.)However the lads redeemed themselves in the last game against the much fancied Mold team. Although losing by 3 tries to nil this was a  more committed performance with Mold getting the rub of the green with 2 of their tries after doubts over grounding and also a knock on. The coaches were pleased with the performance overall and are hoping to develop some consistency with performances over the coming weeks. Special mention this week goes to Craig Ennis who made some excellent yardage with the ball over the course of the tournament and Matthew White who again defended bravely as the last line of defence.
