3. Matters Arising

DS outlined vast majority of subs now paid, only 15 to come in at present out of some 270, DS thanked all for hard work in this especially Vania.
Sale Sharks coaching organised at Ormskirk by DS, places still being taken up by outside clubs which is very disappointing, the sessions are arranged to help our players not other teams. Coaches asked to push for next training session which is 19/11/06, which needs to be confirmed with Sale.
First session at Burscough Priory High this week.
Donny asks that if you need to use the club please email Donny so he can confirm with Russ Brennan to book the club.
School tournament has been confirmed, Anna to run girls tournament on the 14/11.
Still kit to hand down from age groups.
The roping of the pitches for the EFE games seems to be working very well in order to comply with Lancashire RFU, first week a little confusing but now working well. Ambulance access still being blocked need to explore this issue. Suggestion by D Jones to cone off the sides of the club, IH to send email to this effect.
Tea duty Jenny Baxter needs two volunteers for this duty when it is teams turn, this Sunday it is the under 14’s. Jenny does fantastic job but needs help in the kitchen.

Mal Woods has met with B Stevenson and presented proposition for service charge, went very well, Mal Woods has also discussed with Dave Thompson about increased payments.

4. Subscriptions & Registrations
As discussed excellent response and hard work by Vania on this matter.

5. Age Group Reports

Under 7

18 players with a few girls, positive outlook reported.

Under 8
Squad of 13 players from last year + 4 new players who have come down this September who seem keen enough but have not yet registered.

Set of good as new numbered shirts have been handed down from last years U8’s – many thanks.

Level 1 coaching course now completed by Jon Dobson.

Played at the Littleborough tournament last weekend and got knocked out in group stage.
Won against Huddersfield B but lost to both Huddersfield A and Widnes.

Looking forward to the Manchester tournament this coming weekend

Under 9

Much better numbers 14 players to date with a few new players. Recent tournament was spoilt for the team by poor refereeing of the matches.

Under 10

Training has started well for the team and with the addition of two new members; the squad has now increased in numbers to fifteen. Contested scrums and Line outs are new this season and with some big lads in the team, they are both areas that we should do well in once the technicalities have been mastered.

Midweek training on Wednesday evenings has been introduced this year and will be extremely important to the development of positional play and fitness levels. As the squad grows in numbers, we would ideally like to increase the number of coaches as well to ensure that we can continue the development of the players. If anybody is able to help, please let us know.

As well as the new members, it is really encouraging that the majority of the players are now in their fourth season. As a result, the improvement in the basic skills such as Ball handling and passing are increasingly evident. It’s also great for team spirit.

With the coaching staff still being solely made up from former Second Row players, fluid, inventive back play combined with adept handling skills and nifty footwork will yet again be on display in abundance this season.

Under 11

We have several new players and hopefully more will arrive over the next few months. It appears that Tarleton have lost their team to football.
The boys made the semi final of the Littleborough tournament on Sunday and lost to two very good sides. If we can find some fast runners the side will be transformed.
We are training throughout the winter months on a Wednesday evening at Burscough Priory.

Under 12

Good report from Dave had a good tournament recently and it is looking positive with some promising players in the squad.

Under 13

Summer training went well attended for 5 Thursdays until the light got too dark.

Numbers swelled to 25, but subsequently lost one to serious knee injury (not at training!), one still to attend training. 2 new additions in last two weeks need to be registered for Lancashire Cup, rest of the squad all registered.

Practice match incorporating training session with Maricourt High School on 10th September was a success and 3 have been to training since, 2 of which look good possibilities.

Won first game against Aldwinians (A) – the first time that team had ever lost at home. First EFE Lancashire Cup game was conceded by West Park.

Pete Dawson starts Level 1 course in next week or so.

Anthony has joined us as an assistant coach – contact details required, has he been CRB checked?

In early stages of arranging Easter tour to Newcastle – taking in Falcons game on April 9th.

Can you add to my report that 8 of the squad have been nominated to attend Lancashire u13 Squad Assessments - 7 to North Lancs, 1 to Merseyside (via school).

Under 14

Under 14s have had a difficult few weeks after losing Jamie as coach, had a narrow loss to Rochdale in cup, but getting some more interest in help with coaching.

Under 14 Girls

We have a mixed bag of players from under 14 and under 17, 4 under 17 and 7/8 under 14s in total. Anna has a positive outlook and is encouraging the under 17s to go to Lancashire Coaching Development this coming Saturday. Anna could do with help on coaching.

Under 15-a

Currently training well and becoming increasingly frustrated with lack of games, so far North Wales; North Ribblesdale & New Brighton Under 16s have all called off fixtures.
Only fixture so far has been 1st Round of EFE Junior Challenge (Lancashire Cup) against Blackburn, with a 30* - 0*. This game was abandoned with 12 minutes to play after Ormskirk had run it 17 tries.

Currently 15 players in Merseyside Squad, with 8 in EIG at Sale Sharks.
Next match Winnington Park Away on Sunday 8th October 2006.

Under 15-b

Currently training hard and playing some excellent matches, had good opening games winning to Aldwinians and losing to PGH, looking forward to cup games and boys really coming together as a team. Coaches very positive for the future.

6. Coaching Issues

Scrum machine required DJ discussed the one used now is not suitable for the players, it is too small, AO’M to put forward too 200 club request for help. Several age groups to train on Wednesday, senior section use club on Tuesday and Thursday from 7pm, discussion on Wednesday training and arrangements, pitches are free up to 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday if required but must be free for senior section training which starts at 7. Donny outlined some coaches not completing courses, if not completing let Donny know in time to rearrange, it costs £220 for a level 2 course. Any age group not having a game due to cancellation please let Donny know if you are training, space is tight and advance notice can prevent congestion issues and time to rearrange etc. Under 12, 13, 14, 15 and 17 have all benefited from professional coaching this season to date. Donny to look to do this for all age groups through the season.

7. Community Coach

Jamie reports he is currently working in schools, at Maghull School, Deyes High School and Maricourt working with Yr7, girl’s tournament has been organised for the 14/11 with 7 teams, running girls after school club and forging excellent link with school and club. Working also in Primary Schools, St Anne’s running 3 x Yr5 classes entered in all tournaments, school tournament being organised. Not had much success at Edge Hill, LSH seem to be their first. DJ discussed Maricourt School and the good support, M Bailey organised friendly fixture with Maricourt training followed by game.

8. Equipment, Storage, Training Arrangements & Playing Kit –

New kit form Sale now arrived and all coaches asked to follow container plan when putting equipment away as the container is now full, Donny asks that we all look after the equipment. The red pads and shields are for mini use only, junior to use yellow pads. Senior tackle bags cost £800.00 so please take care of the equipment. 2 sets of corner flags and poles on order, coaches asked to keep players in order when putting equipment away and to prevent accidents and messing around. DS outlined enough kit now for coaches to take training kit away when at Ormskirk School for the players to use.

ID brought up issue of metal spike being left on pitch, does not know when or how but he had to remove this, DS emphasises importance of all coaches to check all equipment put away.

DS asked coaches for equipment orders if any, DJ wants a ball bag (no jokes) and AO’M requires balls and bag for training.

9. Lancashire & EFE Junior Challenge

Running well to date.

10. Youth Development Plan Review & Level 3 Seal Of Approval

With Stuart

12. A.O.B.

Vania has sent to Sandra Richardson registration cards for players, DS outlined this will be waived (again) by Lancashire for next round of the EFE Cup. Nee to complete all registration form completely, important post code for school is used as this will lead to form being rejected, Donny asks coaches to check cards but coaches can not insist player who has no card does not play.

Tag tournament on the 14/10 and help is needed, DJ to referee at the tournament.

A Spencer discussed effort is being made to organise the club and wants mini and junior to make sure equipment is put way on Sunday and he will look at this for Saturday.
Club website all age groups have a page and can contribute, age group need to select individual web master to oversee postings, DS wants coaches to email IH names and email address of who wants access he will pass this to Monty.

Dressing room damage, DS wants all coaches to conduct pre and post match inspection with visiting teams and challenge teams if damage is found.

Dressing room 6 is out of bounds due to flood light storage, restricted access to club for mini and junior during training nights and games, DS in discussion with BS over this.

P Feeney brought up issue of shutter keys, mini and junior open club on Sunday with no shutter keys this leads to restricted access to club, especially for disabled visitors when shutters are closed, fire escape is also compromised. DS and AS agreed to get keys cut for coaches.

Mini and junior cupboard should have no equipment stored and all keys to be given back to DS to pass to senior club.

13. Date & Time Of Next Meeting
