Ormskirk Rugby Round up
With no 1st XV game at the weekend it was left to the other 3 sides to fly the flag for the Green Lane Faithful. The 2nds recorded another strong win away at Oldershaw 49-7 in the league. Try scorers included Ben Mcarthy(2) Keech and Ashworth, with Whalley adding the extras with the boot.
The 3rds came out on top in a local derby away at St. Mary’s old boys 22-12. This lifts Waywell’s men up the table a bit and away from the relegation battle. Andy Wroe returned from injury with a hat trick, Phil Armstrong adding a 4th with also one conversion. The experienced back row had a ‘menacing’ but skilful look to it with Chris Tracy at blind side, Phil Davis at open with captain Waywell at 8.
The 4ths went down 19-10 at home to Kirkby Lonsdale, Jake Hodgson crossing twice.
This week the 1st XV are in cup action, they travel to Bradford Salem in the 4th round of the EDF national cup. This will be a tough encounter against unknown opposition who are currently in second place in Yorkshire
