Summary for Sat 26 Sep 09

After a good weeks training big things were expected from the First Team Squad this weekend, but despite the Second team continuing their winning ways with a great win 33 - 17 at Home to Preston Grasshoppers to send them to the top of their league the First XV failed to deliver only managing to draw 12 -12 away to Glossop.

The First Team travelled to Glossop in good spirits after a great ‘backs to the wall’ victory last week but failed to play the rugby everyone thinks they are capable of in the near perfect conditions at this well organised and maintained club. Another week when this talented group of individuals miss-fired will start to ask searching questions of both players and coaching staff alike - but to be fair to the Home Team they played to their strengths and their massive pack and sharp inside backs nearly stole a good win against all the odds in this well refereed contest.

This disappointment at the First Team dropping a point must be tempered with the fact that the Squad remains unbeaten and with the Second Team performing so well it is not time to panic but an opportunity to get back on the training paddock on a Tuesday and Thursdays at 1900 Hrs under Flood Lights to put things right and compete for those places in both the First and Second Teams.

Unfortunately the Thirds went down 15 - 0 to Sefton at Home whilst the Fourths lost away 34 - 10 to Fleetwood.

Next Week the First Team have a chance to put things right against the Visiting Vagabonds kicking off at Green Lane at 1430 Hrs where the fruits of the training week and ability of management team will be there for all to see and the Seconds have a tough trip to Marple to maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
