The Green Machine Rumbles On

The Green Lane Faithful were treated to a feast of Rugby by the First Team Squad on a warm day at Ormskirk HQ.

It was not the First Team who stole the limelight although they made hard work of putting away a newly promoted Warrington Team 24 - 7 who although played with spirit never looked like taking control of this contest. Although a win is a win in this unbeaten start to the season it is a measure of the teams ambition this year that they were disappointed not to play the quality of rugby they show in patches for the full 80 minutes. Full First Team match report to follow from Andy Wroe

The pressure on the current First Team to perform was further added to in the following 80 minutes when the Second Team produced an outstanding display of running rugby to destroy a New Brighton Team 81 - 0. Competition in the First Team Squad is intense and this performance of controlled, direct and dynamic rugby demonstrated not only the Strength in Depth of the Squad this year but how the well attended training on a Tuesday and Thursday Nights under Flood Lights has quickly improved both basic skills and fitness that was not evident last season. Full Second Team match report to follow from Barry Whalley

Training continues next week on Tuesday and Thursday at 1900 Hrs sharp for players from all 4 Senior Teams and any Colts over 17 who want to represent one of the senior teams this season.
