The U13s kicked off their first game of junior rugby in fine style with a 10-5 win at Aldwinians. The home side, who boasted a squad of 26 and a very vocal crowd, began in confident mood, but both the organisation of the visitors and the extremely long grass conspired against them.
With only 17 players due to non-availability, Ormskirk played a simple rucking and swift handling game and it paid off with a try in each half by Gavin Griffiths securing a well deserved win. Great perfomances in their debuts by Daniel Price and Alex Fitzpatrick.
An interesting post match statistic - this was the first game that this Aldwinians side had ever lost at home, a good start for the Ormskirk U13s!
