We made the trip to Vale expecting just to play them but got a pleasant surprise as Widnes were there too to make it a triangle. A format of three 30 minute games was decided upon so as to make the long journeys wortwhile.
First up was Ormskirk v Vale a fiercely contested battle on a heavy pitch which we won 3 - 1. Straight after we played Widnes but after the lads fantastic efforts against Vale had obviously sapped all their energy as Widnes won convincingly 5-1. This is the 4th time we have played Widnes so far this year and the only time we have got a try against them as they are quite a team ! Lastly Widnes played Vale and beat them 2-1. A great mornings rugby was a fitting way to say goodbye to Jake Mounfield on his last appearance for the club before emigrating to Australia. Jake only joined us in September but has become a key part of the team and will be sorely missed. We look forward to hearing about his rugby exploits down under!Top tackler award went to Aaron but they all defended magnificently.
Training next Sunday (2nd March) is at the cricket club / St Helens Road at 10.30 am.

On behalf of Jake can I say a big “Thank You” to everyone connected with Ormskirk Rugby Union Football Club. Jake only joined the club in September and has received such a warm welcome and settled in straight away. He has made lots of great friends and will hopefully keep some lasting “long distance” friendships. The coaches of the Under 9’s have also been great and Jake will miss them all. We will really miss Ormskirk Rugby club as a whole and wish you every success and happiness for the future. Thanks for everything, The Mounfield’s.
