Following two narrow defeats early in the season by Vale of Lune and Lymm, the team secured their first win in the match against Hoylake on November 5th. So that all of the 15 strong squad who travelled to Hoylake had a game, three matches were played with scorelines of 5-0, 2-0 and 3-0. All of the team played extremely well and Adam “Crusher” Kingston was awarded Man of the Match. The season’s try scoring table is currently a three way tie between Mitchell “Slugger” Slocombe, Patrick “Butane” Hagerty and Will “Snake Hips” Church. All of them have three tries each.
Both Sunday and Wednesday training sessions are progressing well and the dark arts of contested scrums and lineouts are becoming increasingly familiar. Now that lazy summer Sunday mornings are but a distant memory, (especially for the coaches) the passing and ball handling skills are also significantly improving. The lads are beginning to settle into playing in more regular positions - especially within the Scrum and Lineouts and One to one coaching is also being introduced within the main Group training sessions to try and assist this. As an extra boost, the training session on November 19th will be delivered by the Sale Sharks back row player David Tate. All of the squad are really looking forward to the session.
