Under 12s Taste Victory at Hoylake.

After some tough matches to start the season, the under 12s  finally got into winning gear with a well deserved 33 points to 7 victory over a keen and eager Hoylake outfit at the weekend.

Ormskirk dominated the first half but found themselves only 5 points to nil up at the break with a well worked move putting Will Briscoe in at the corner. Too often promising situations were squandered by choosing the wrong option and ,to be fair to Hoylake, some rugged on the line defending. However after the break Ormskirk converted their superiority into points. Craig Ennis,Matthew Jones and Tom Povey scored tries after some excellent approach play.

Hoylake however kept battling away and scored a consolation try late in the second half after winning a line out on the Ormskirk line. Ormskirk finished the game in control and scored a late try from scrum half Harry James. Michael Lea and Matthew White scored 2 conversions apiece to wrap up a well deserved and morale boosting win just 2 weeks away from their first ever Lancashire cup-tie over in Southport. All in all this was a convincing victory but what was pleasing was that it was an excellent team performance rather than being dominated by one individual. Even though all the points came from the backs it was the work done by the forwards, in particular Robert Hall and Liam Thornton, that created the platform for victory.
